some Songs WRITTEN OVER RECENT DECADES
After leaving my band, 'The Little Heroes', I kept writing new songs, though I knew they would never see the light of day - largely because I didn't want to perform any more. As much as I'd had some success in the music biz, my passions lay elsewhere - I wanted to be free of the stifling weight of being looked at by audiences and music industry people. I wanted to reinvent myself and do other things - get my health back, learn how to meditate, travel to interesting places, write books and make my pictures - explore the big horizon of 'anything-can-happen' - which is what I've done. Nevertheless it always rankled a bit, that my new songs would never be heard.
Then Ai emerged, and gave me the opportunity to give expression to all the lyrics and demo's I've made over the decades since the band. And while I know a lot of people object to Ai, nevertheless, these songs are mine - with the lyrics and chords and most melodies written by me. So from my point of view, it's been like working with an extraordinarily versatile band and a variety of singers. And in the end, it was a choice to either leave my songs unsung - or let them out of my journals and laptop to give them a life, even if it's only for my own ears. And it's given me great pleasure to hear them.
For anyone wanting to use any of these songs in some way - I'm signed to BMG Music forever and for the world ... so you'll have to deal with them.
