some Songs WRITTEN OVER RECENT DECADES
After leaving my band, 'The Little Heroes', I kept on writing lyrics for new songs, though I knew they would never see the light of day - largely because I didn't want to perform any more. I knew that, as much as I'd had some success, my passions lay elsewhere - and I wanted to be free of the stifling weright of having to satisfy the expectations of band-mates, audiences and record companies. Added to which, I wanted to do other things - learn how to meditate, travel and write books, and explore the big horizon of 'anything-can-happen' - which is what I did.
Nevertheless it always rankled a bit, that my lyrics would never be heard.
Then Ai emerged. And it finally gave me the opportunity to unearth the songs I'd been writing over the decades, and give them expression - of a kind - and hear my songs sung back to me, which has given me great pleasure. Also, it's given voice to many of the songs which, though precious to me, various musicians had insisted on changing to suit their tastes.
So here they are - each song having been carefully programmed by me, and gone through hundreds of iterations to find their final form. From my point of view, it's like collaborating with an extraordinarily versatile band. The lyrics are my own, and not specific to any genre - and the music has been crafted to match the lyric, regardless of the genre. I hope you like them.
